If five years ago you were to tell me that the BCS would be absolutely crazy, and that a game between Rutgers and South Florida may be decide who plays for a national title, I would’ve asked: In five years, do three teams play at the same time?
And I must say, I’m truly ready for the BCS to get completely insane, and tonight could help that. If USF loses, there’s obvious reason for panic: An ACC team — and I’m a Georgia Tech fan, so don’t think I’m being biased; the ACC just stinks — could very well be playing for the national title, and their name isn’t Virginia Tech, Florida State or Miami.
If USF wins, there’s an outside shot that they could go undefeated and eventually be passed by a team with one loss. Which would make for one of those This-BCS-System-Is-So-Screwed-Up-Switch-To-A-Playoff-Already kind of reactions (as if we don’t have enough of that).
So, the madness begins in about thirty minutes. There’s a part of me that feels Rutgers will make an upset, and the other part of me says ESPN’s talking about USF so much and all the pros they have that I gotta go with this team (funny thing is, ESPN didn’t know any of these guys’ names two months ago, and now they’re CERTAIN first round locks).
Enjoy the game.
I know I will.
