You know, watching baseball, and watching guys balloon up twice the size they were entering the league, you figured something was going on. Before McGwire broke records, before Sammy Sosa suddenly became Sammy Sosa, and before Barry Bonds’ head grew a full hat size. My guess is Bud Selig saw this, but probably looked the other way.

According to John Rocker, he knew what was going on.

Former major league pitcher John Rocker said Monday that baseball commissioner Bud Selig knew he failed a drug test in 2000 and that doctors for the “league” and the “players association” advised him and several Texas Rangers teammates on how to effectively use steroids.

Later Monday, he told Atlanta sports talk radio station 680 The Fan that “between 40 to 50 percent of baseball players are on steroids” and “in 2000 Bud Selig knew John Rocker was taking the juice.”

Not helping his case, the story points out that a while back Rocker said he estimated less than 50 percent of baseball took steroids. He said it was all propaganda — just a big media thing.

Lies or no lies, at least Rocker held his cool and didn’t refer to Selig as a lousy Jew.
