As everyone’s probably heard by now, Ken Griffey Jr. is injured again, but the reason for the injury is now known: He was wrestling with his daughter and two sons.
The Cincinnati Reds center fielder said he was wrestling with his daughter and two younger sons on his yacht in the Bahamas this past December when the oldest jumped in and knocked him off balance. He landed awkwardly on his left hand.
“It was nothing that could violate my contract,” he said Friday after reporting early for training camp. “It was Dad being Dad.”
For most, dad being dad isn’t a bad thing. For Griffey (and you can probably throw Kerry Wood on this list, too), dad can’t be dad unless that means laying around in a room made with cotton walls and ceilings.
He says the hand is getting stronger, but I get the feeling that this injury leads to a hamstring injury which leads to a foot inury which leads to a hip injury which leads to a back injury which leads. . .
