I haven’t been completely sold on the Lakers all year, so it’ll be hard for me to believe that this team will be favored to represent the West in the Finals, but for now, it looks as if they’ll at least enter this thing as the No. 1 seed. The Lakers beat down on the defending champion San Antonio Spurs, possibly locking up their No. 1 seed heading into the playoffs.
Outside of possibly winning the top spot in the West, the Lakers also probably locked up Kobe’s MVP status; he and Chris Paul have been battling, but if Kobe’s able to will his team into the top spot, chances are a few vote will sway his way.
Should they finish as No. 1, the Lakers would take on either Golden State or Denver, both of which, in my opinion, can beat LA. Kobe’s good, Bynum’s been better, and Gasol is nice; at the end of the day, though, it’s a one man team, and I’m yet to see a one man team do well in the NBA Playoffs.
