Seattle Supersonics 107, Indiana Pacers 114: It’s a rare win for the Pacers, and a not-so-rare loss for the Sonics, who, if it wasn’t for the Heat, would probably have an inside track for their second No. 1 overall pick in as many years. Speaking of No. 1 picks, Kevin Durant was 7-14 from the field and finished with 27 points for the Sonics. Mike Dunleavy had 32 points for the struggling Pacers.
Memphis Grizzlies 111, Phoenix Suns 132: Rudy Gay continues to impress in his second season, scoring 20 points for the helpless Grizzlies. Five players scored double digits for the Suns, led by Amare Stoudemire’s 32. Shaq, who had limited playing time, finished with two points and eight rebounds.
Toronto Raptors 108, LA Lakers 117: Say hello to your new Western Conference Leader, even if it’s only for the next day or so (the West switches up a little too often for me to actually keep track; if it wasn’t for the quick blurb under the box score, I wouldn’t have known they were indeed first again). The Chris Boshless Raptors struggled again, but did get a solid night from TJ Ford, who had 28 points, four assists and five rebounds off the bench. Kobe Bryant led the way for the Lakers with 34 points, followed by Lamar Odom’s 20 points and Derek Fischer’s 18 points.
