Warriors 97, Mavericks 85: I didn’t want Dallas to pull Golden State in the opening round. The Mavs were 0-3 against he Warriors this season, and though I like a good upset, I don’t like a good upset that ends my yearly aspirations of watching David Stern hand the NBA Finals Trophy to Mark Cuban. Baron Davis had 33 points, 14 rebounds and 8 assists for a team that could lose every game left in this series and still consider this year a success.

Lakers 87, Suns 95: Kobe Bryant had 39 points, but there’s an asterisk next to it: It took 33 shots to reach that total. Leandro Barbosa had 26 points off the bench, and Steve Nash and Amare Stoudemire chipped in 20 and 23, respectively. Raja Bell only had 2 points, but seemed to be annoying Kobe all day.

Wizards 82, Cavs 97: Is there a series with less suspense than this one? Or more importantly, fewer viewers? Larry Hughes had 27 points to lead the Cavs, who I’m guessing will sweep this series away.

Nuggets 95, Spurs 89: It’s early, but the NBA playoffs have me scared so far. If the Spurs and Mavs both get knocked out in the first round, the West is pretty much given to the Suns. AI and ‘Melo combined for 61 points, while Tony Parker, Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobli and Michael Finley combined for 57.
