Okay, the action is back. If you haven’t kept up, here’s my tally. These totals aren’t what was called straight up, but how I did against the spread.
Last night (well, last time I made picks, which was Thursday): 2-0
On the Season: 4-2
If You Only Count The Ones I Really Believed In: 4-0
Jazz (-2.5) @ Blazers: If there was a team that didn’t want the All Star break (other than Dallas), it was probably Utah. They’ve won their last six games, and it wasn’t as if they played slouches during that stretch (wins against San Antonio, Phoenix, Chicago and Cleveland). They’re playing Portland, who’s a hit or miss team, depending on Zach Randolph. Two and a half points? I say they miss. Jazz win at least by a trey.
Grizzlies (+8.5) @ Sonics: It’s never easy betting on a team who’s lost 40 games at the break, but 8.5 points is pretty high for a team who’s done half decent recently (they’re 2-2 in their last four, which is making strides). And of their 14 wins, one of them came against Seattle. I like the upset possibility, but think you’re pretty safe taking the eight and half. Grizz cover.
Hornets @ Bobcats (+3): Another team I normally don’t like to bet on because, well, they kinda have a reputation for stinking. But the Bobcats are getting better and better with each passing day, and the Hornets are 8-17 on the road. Their last victory away from home? You have to go back three months (November 18, for those of you who want exact dates), where they beat the T’Wolves. Take the points, but Bobcats win it straight up.
That’s it for today. I was tempted to throw my thoughts on the Hawks/Bulls game, but if there’s one fundamental truth I’ve learned in gambling it’s don’t bet on or against your team. It’s a certain jinx.
Today might be a slow day for posts. I have some prior engagements that I must attend to, but will try my best to keep the site up to speed. If you want the rest of the NBA Lines that I’ve done in the past, you can get them right here. Just ignore the two losers I picked. They were kinda jokes. It was an inside thing.
And remember, kids: Don’t gamble unless you have a sure winner. And don’t listen to parents who tell you there’s not a sure thing in gambling. They’re degenerates who couldn’t call a game if their lives depended on it, and that’s why they’re so bitter. Don’t let their pessimistic attitude bring down your win streak.
