Portland Trail Blazers 80, Cleveland Cavaliers 88: LeBron James nabbed himself a nice little triple-double, scoring 24 points, dishing 11 assists, and grabbing 10 boards, to carry Cleveland to victory. Newly acquired Ben Wallace had back spasms in the second half, and left with zero points and five rebounds. LaMarcus Aldridge led the way for the Blazers with 25 points.
Hawks 112, Magic 123: The Magic scored 74 points. At halftime. By the time the game was all said and done, Orlando had shot over 50 percent on the game, and nailed down 15 three pointers in 28 attempts. Five players scored double digits for the Hawks, though none of them mustered much on defense.
Boston Celtics 100, Philadelphia 76′ers 86: Consider it a good showing for Philly. They’ve been a surprise team so far, but they just don’t have the man-power to contend with Boston’s Big Three, who combined to score 62 points to lead Boston to their 50th win of the season, the first time Boston’s had as many wins since 1986.
LA Clippers 99, Miami Heat 98: It’s nice to see the Heat can be competitive with out D-Wade, even if the result is the same. Al Thornton continues to impress in his rookie campaign, and led all Clippers players with 22 points on 9 of 14 shooting from the field. All five starters scored double digits for the Heat, led by Ricky Davis’ 27 points.
New York Knicks 79, Dallas Mavericks 108: It’s become fun to guess how many the Knicks will lose by. Vegas didn’t even post a spread on this one yesterday, and why would they? New York is a laughing stock, and guessing how many this team is going to lose by is like. . . well, I dunno. Something that takes some serious guessing skill.
New Jersey Nets 73, Houston Rockets 91: The Nets top scorer was Vince Carter. He had 13 points. That should kind of give it away at how Houston was able to win their 19th straight game this season.
Denver Nuggets 103, San Antonio Spurs 107: Six players scored in double figures for the Spurs, led by TD’s 23 points, knocking the Nuggets a game back for the final spot in the Western Conference, which seems to be changing daily. If you look at it, there’s a good chance that Phoenix, Dallas, Golden State, or Denver could miss the playoffs. Well, one of them will miss the playoffs, but I guess my point is the craziness in thinking the Suns or Mavs may not be there, given the tight race. Anyway. . .
