Knicks 92, Magic 118: All five Magic starters scored in double digits, led by Hedo Turkoglu’s 25, and the Knicks were, well, the Knicks. Jamal Crawford had 23, Zach Randolph didn’t play, Isiah Thomas coached ineptly, and at the end of the day it’s another loss for New York. That extension Isiah signed last year didn’t look smart then, and it definitely doesn’t look smart now.
Jazz 113, Grizzlies 92: Deron Williams (the Hawks could’ve had him) had 13 points and 19 assists, and six other Jazz players finished in double digits scoring, led by Boozer’s 18 points. Utah is only 3 1/2 games out of first place in the very, very competitive Western Conference, led by the San Antonio Spurs. The Grizzlies have now lost eight games in a row.
Spurs 96, Bucks 94: Manu Ginobli scored 30 points for the Spurs, but none were more important than the game winning shot he hit with 13 seconds left. Tony Parker finished with 26 points, as the guard play for San Antonio continues its dominance during their current eight game winning streak.
76′ers 119, Suns 114: Turns out Shawn Marion was needed in Phoenix. Not only have the Suns dropped four of six since acquiring Shaq, but their defense has been awful. Since getting Big Diesel from Miami, the Suns have given up 130, 77, 116, 113, 120, and 119 points in their last six. That offense is good, sure, but that defense is not fun to watch.
Pistons 103, Clippers 73: Remember when everyone thought the Clippers were turning the corner a couple of years back? Well, they’re 19-38, don’t have a point guard, and are heading to the lottery again. Corey Maggette led the Clips with 22, but their second highest scorer only had 13. Tayshaun Prince had 22 points for the Pistons, and Juan Dixon, everyone’s favorite Terrapin, had 14 points off the bench.
