The Cleveland Browns are optimistic they will sign quarterback Derek Anderson by next Thursday’s free agency deadline.
“Talks have been a little more frequent in recent days,” team GM Phil Savage said in an e-mail, according to The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer. “It seems that the three-year deal is becoming more the focus. We’ve had pretty good dialogue and will continue over the [NFL scouting] combine.”
Brady’s about two years away from being Aaron Rodgers, and, given history, Anderson may indeed beat Favre to retirment. It has to hurt going from possible No. 1 to someone drafted late in the first round to someone who’s more of an after thought to someone who’s an “Oh shit, we really gave up a first round pick for him?” type of guy.
