When you’re a fan of the Arizona Cardinals, life isn’t so great; you suffer losing season after losing season, and you’re the one franchise that makes the Lions and Falcons look okay.

Cardinals fans can take a breath of relief today, because Arizona signed Larry Fitzgerald, their best player, to a four year extension.

The Arizona Cardinals and wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald reached agreement on a blockbuster four-year, $40 million contract that will free up much-needed salary cap room for the team.

The deal is front-end heavy and will pay more than $33 million over the first three years, with only $7 million coming in the final year of the contract. It was thought that Fitzgerald may take a bit of a pay cut in an attempt to give Arizona more wiggle room to sign other players, but given what he got, I’m guessing we can throw that notion away.
