As a huge Falcons fan, when Michael Vick got hurt against the Ravens in the preseason and was out for ten weeks, I said that any team who plays their major starters are a bunch of idiots (come to find out him playing football was the best thing possible, because it kept him somewhat out of dog gambling operations).

We’ve still got one more preseason game to go, but here’s some big names who are feeling the wrath of the preseason injury bug.

-Osi Umenyiora ripped up his leg and is out for the year. Even if the Giants do get Michael Strahan, this really, really hurts.

-Shawne Merriman ripped up his leg in an injury doctors are saying could be “career threatening.” Sadly, with that said, the HGH freak is still contemplating playing this season.

-Chad Johnson, who wanted a new contract, has a partially torn labrum in his left shoulder. I don’t know what the hell this means, but doctors are saying it’s worse than they originally expected, which is never good news.

-Steve Smith is suspended for two games for beating the hell out of one of his teammates. This is completely unrelated to preseason games, but it helps my case, which is smaller than I first anticipated.
