This is a very risky move by a high profile player. At what point do the Chargers step in and ask him to reconsider his decision? At only 24 years old, Merriman has a good 10 years left in the league barring injury. This decision could severely affect his entire career. We can all sympathise and understand his decision waiting all summer to get back on the field and win games. The Chargers are a solid team, but with our without Merriman the Chargers are not expected to win the Super Bowl. I respect Merriman for having the guts and desire to play injured, something some professional athletes lack, but hopefully for his sake and fans sake this decision doesn't come back to haunt him.
