If you’re looking for that instance in free agency that screams “overpaid!” — well, you may have found it. The Browns, short of defensive stars, wanted to make a splash, and did so with a 350 pound overpaid, over weight, and overrated defensive tackle named Shaun Rogers.
Rogers and the Browns agreed to a six-year, $42 million deal on Wednesday, a restructuring that will keep him in Cleveland until 2013. With his existing contract scheduled to expire in 2010, three years and a guaranteed $20 million were added to make the deal work.
It should probably be noted that Rogers plays about two downs a defensive series, which makes this contract even more absurd than it already was. And when you’re an outcast from the Lions, you’re really an outcast.
