Ever since we found out about Matt Walsh, and how he was “the guy” responsible for all the Patriots glory and achievements, the story has been a little. . . annoying. We hear all these things, but we essentially hear nothing. To date, all we know is that Walsh worked in video production, was probably responsible for any walk-throughs that were taped, but that’s it.
Well, the NFL and Walsh had talks this week, coming close to an agreement, but apparently those talks have stalled.
Word from the lawyers has former New England Patriots video assistant Matt Walsh primed to tell the National Football League what he knows about the team’s taping practices. But as of Monday afternoon, a formal agreement hadn’t been reached, and those close to the situation acknowledged that the logistics of when Walsh will meet with NFL officials has yet to even be discussed.
Over the weekend, the sides neared agreement on the general terms of the meeting and the NFL issued a statement to that effect Sunday evening. But league spokesperson Greg Aiello indicated Monday a final agreement is not likely over the next day or two.
I’ve gotta put it out there: Just how powerful are Belichick’s mind tricks? You’ve got a guy in Andy Petite who’s ratting out his current best friend for using steroids, possibly a testimony that becomes conviction to jail, and then you’ve got Matt Walsh, who won’t even tell on his former boss that fired him. So either Beliechick is more powerful than anyone we’ve ever known — maybe even more powerful that Godzilla — or Matt Walsh is a serious, serious girl.
