In pretty sudden news — I sure didn’t know we were getting a new Monday Night Football announcer this year — Tony Kornheiser, who’s hosted MNF for the last three years, has stepped aside, and will be replaced by Jon Gruden.

One of the main reasons? Kornheiser, like me, isn’t one for airplanes. There’s something about something that big going that fast, flying that high that just doesn’t make sense…

“My fear of planes is legendary and sadly true,” he said. “When I looked at the upcoming schedule it was the perfect storm that would’ve frequently moved me from the bus to the air.”

Tell me the Bucs are somewhere on that MNF schedule. Or at Oakland, where an Al Davis shot is sure to take place.
