Showing that a student’s grades aren’t important and only his athleticism is, Jacksonville St. has accepted Ryan Perrilloux, where the former star will have two years left of eligibility.
Jacksonville State coach Jack Crowe spoke to the family of Perrilloux earlier this month about the possibility of transferring to the school. Crowe also spoke with LSU coach Les Miles, who explained Perrilloux’s situation to Crowe.
“Les was very kind to spend quite a bit of time explaining the situation to me,” Crowe told The Associated Press. “He’s very optimistic about him being a successful player and a successful student-athlete.”
I’m glad Les has such a great outlook that he decided to kick the guy off of his team. Since Perrilloux redshirted and won’t be docked a year for the transfer, he’ll have two years to really fuck up this opportunity, as well. Somewhere, Texas fans rejoice.

I remember back when Joe Hamilton played for Georgia Tech; we had Ralph Fridgen as our offensive coordinator, George O’Leary as the head coach, a defensive coordinator that couldn’t put together a defense, and Joe Hamilton directing the most potent offense in the nation. Against FSU — the same FSU that had Chris Weinke and eventually won a National Title — Joe was 22-25 for 387 yards and five touchdowns.
He was flawless.
He was the best quarterback to ever play for Georgia Tech and, pardon the bias, one of the best college QB’s I ever saw, period.
And now he’s been arrested. The details.
Hamilton, 31, is facing charges of marijuana possession, driving under the influence of alcohol, hit-and-run and open container, according to a Georgia Tech police report.
He was taken to Fulton County Jail.
The former Heisman Trophy runner-up was pulled over shortly after midnight by a Georgia Tech police officer because his black Ford Expedition matched the description of a car that had been involved in a hit-and-run collision nearby.
It’s a sad, sad day. Hamilton just recently joined the Georgia Tech football staff, and I was hoping one day we’d get him back in a uniform. Given that he hit a car, took off, and then got caught drunk, high, and looking like the picture to the left, that’s probably unlikely.

There’s been the lingering question of if Ryan Perrilloux would be the starting QB for LSU this season, and I think that question may have just been answered. Perriloux, who’s most notorious for failing out of classes and having run-ins with the law, has been dismissed from the team.
Perrilloux, who had been suspended three times in his college career, “didn’t fulfill his obligation as an LSU student-athlete,” Miles said in a statement. The school said Friday that Perrilloux is expected to finish out the spring semester.
A lot of coaches out there are on their phones right now in an effort to get Perrilloux to their school. The guy’s a ridiculous talent and, hey, what’s three or four arrests per year? It’s not that bad in the grand scheme of things.

As a Tennessee and Georgia Tech fan, I’m not shocked to see an idiot ex-UGA player tasered to the ground after arguing with a cop and pushing him away. Dirty on the field, dirty off it. And you’re going to have four losses this year, Georgia. So stop the Hype Train.

We’ve all heard about Herschel Walker’s multiple personality disorder, but we maybe didn’t know the crazy extent to which it actually reached. In a recent article, Herschel admits to playing Russian roulette while dealing with his personality disorder.
“To challenge death like I was doing, you start saying, there’s a problem here,” Walker said in the interview.
“The logical side of me knew that what I was thinking of doing to this man — murdering him for messing up my schedule — wasn’t a viable alternative,” Walker wrote. “But another side of me was so angry that all I could think was how satisfying it would feel to step out of the car, pull out the gun, slip off the safety and squeeze the trigger.
“It would be no different from sighting on targets I’d fired at for years — except for the visceral enjoyment I’d get from seeing the small entry wound and the spray of brain tissue and blood — like a Fourth of July fireworks — exploding behind him.”
I’ve spoken with some people who are bi-polar, as well as people who have multiple identities. Thankfully, these people weren’t Herschel Walker, and they didn’t have a gun.

I went to a high school that had a very sorry football team, so I know what it’s like to be bad. But over the course of four years, we won more than one game.
Brant Smith, who coached Montgomery County in Georgia for one year, has resigned. The school is 1-39 since 2003.
“It didn’t seem to me there was a commitment from our [school] board for the football team,” Brant Smith said. “They’re going to struggle until they finally make a commitment.”
The new coach will be the fifth in five years for the Eagles, who are 1-39 since a 5-6 season in 2003. They haven’t had a head coach stay longer than four years since John Peacock led the team to a state semifinal while coaching from 1980-91. Since then, it has been tough for Montgomery County to keep coaches.
Now just get this info up to New York. A record this bad is even reason for the Knicks to celebrate.

The video above features Arizona defensive end Josh Lewis, who’s a walk-on, has been suspended, and probably won’t be missed. If you’re going to stick your hand up some girl’s pants, don’t do it when there’s someone flashing a camera your way. And don’t do it, period, when you’re a D-I defensive end and she’s still bigger than you.

It’s news everyone’s probably heard — I’m way behind, it’s been a crazy work day — but Terrelle Pryor, the top rated high school prospect, has chosen Ohio State over those pesky Wolverines.
His decision comes six weeks after the Feb. 6 national signing day when seniors normally sign their binding national letter and four days after the Jeannette Jayhawks made WPIAL history by winning the PIAA Class AA state boys’ basketball championship. In December, the school won the state football title. No other Western Pennsylvania school has pulled off that unthinkable double.
Pryor was the central figure in both championship runs.
“The sky’s the limit to athleticism,” said Tom Luginbill, the national football recruiting coordinator for Scouts, Inc. “He draws comparisons to Vince Young who can save a play on the run and has the ability to improvise.”
Maybe this will help Ohio State actually win a National Title game, or at least play the game competitively.

There were a lot of people wondering about Matt Ryan, his arm strength, his accuracy, etc., given that he hadn’t thrown, but any doubters may soon become believers. Ryan threw in front of pro scouts today at Boston College, and he did nothing to hurt his draft stock.
Ryan worked out at BC’s biggest Pro Day ever, throwing to former teammates for a mini-combine of 42 scouts and other personnel evaluators from 22 NFL teams. He completed 48 of 52 passes — three drops, one overthrown — from three-, five- and seven step drops, from the pocket and on the run, throwing to both sides of the field.
“I made every throw you need to make in the NFL,” said Ryan, who skipped the Senior Bowl and ran but didn’t throw at last month’s NFL combine in Indianapolis. “I thought it went well. It was the first opportunity I’ve had to throw in front of the scouts live.”
It’s hard to say where Ryan will fall. The Dolphins need him, but the Dolphins are good at not drafting players they need (they took Ted Ginn last year, which was about the last thing they needed). Up next is St. Louis, who’s not taking him, and it’s not certain the Falcons would draft him if he’s available. The Raiders took JaMarcus Russell, and the Chiefs actually seem content having a bad quarterback run things.
